Abstract

Objective. To determine the maternal and fetal factors associated with dystocic delivery in pregnant women attended in the public hospital level II-1 of Lima. Materials and methods. Cases and controls study. Participants: Pregnant women diagnosed with dystocic birth and eutocic delivery attended at Hospital de Huaycan. Methodology. Sample constituted by 208 cases and 208 controls. Odds ratio was used to obtain the association and degree of significance with the dystocic delivery. Results. The maternal factors associated with dystocic delivery were: cephalopelvic disproportion (OR: 3.16 and p <0.000), contraction anomalies (OR: 2.34 and p <0.000), soft tissue dystocia (OR: 2.23 yp <0.000), body mass index (OR: 2.28 and p <0.002); and as fetal factor was macrosomia (OR: 3.42 and p <0.001). Conclusions. The cephalic pelvic disproportion, contraction abnormalities, soft tissue distocias and body mass index; and fetal macrosomia showed a strong statistically significant association for dystocic birth.
